Tangle Nets
We stock and manufacture a broad range of tangle nets. We hand rig the nets in our workshop in Bridport and we are happy for you to visit to discuss your requirements.
Tangle nets are single-walled nets that closely resemble a standard gill net. The main difference is the greater amount of slack netting set into the headline which results in a more loosely hung net. This mean that flatfish, rays, monkfish and shellfish such as spider crabs and crayfish become easily entangled without their heads getting caught in a single mesh.
Our tangle nets for sole and plaice are rigged by a third; this means that 300yds of stretched sheet net will make a 100yds net when rigged and ready to fish.
The nets we supply are good quality, economically-priced and above all successful. Our biggest challenge in keeping prices in check is the ever-rising cost of lead, although we are continually on the lookout for alternative options to keep prices low for our customers. We are always happy to re-rig onto old lead line as long as it is clean. Please contact us for a quotation.
As all our nets are rigged to order we cannot always offer immediate delivery during busy times. Please allow for this when ordering as we don’t like to disappoint.

Ready Rigged Tangle Nets for Sole & Plaice
Standard rigging: Headline is 6mm braided rope with No. 2 leadline threaded through the bottom of the net for good ground contact. No floats are used as the buoyancy of the rope is usually sufficient.
Heavy rigging: For strong tides we use 8mm rope and No. 2.5 leadline (add £10 per 100 yd net).

Large Mesh Tangle Nets (for Brill, Ray & Spider Crab)
The standard rigging for these nets is 6mm braided polypropylene headline with a 2oz float every 15 ft with No. 2.5 leadline. Also popular is a double headline of 8mm & 6 mm twisted rope with No. 3 leadline (add £12.00 per 100 yd net).
